Scripture of the Day: Matthew 7:7 — “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”Keep Going, Friend—You Were Called to This
Hey Friend,
Let me just talk to you like we’re sitting down with a warm cup of coffee and some quiet time before the day gets going.
Starting a nonprofit was never just about doing good—it was about healing something in me.
Maybe you can relate.
For me, this mission was born out of deep pain. I lost my baby boy Jacob to childhood cancer after just 77 days of fighting a disease we weren’t prepared for. I was left with a broken heart, a lot of questions, and a strong urge to make sure no other family felt as alone as we did. That’s how Jacob Way Organization came to life.
Maybe your mission came from grief too.
Maybe it came from surviving something you never thought you’d make it through.
Maybe it started when you saw a need that nobody else was stepping up to meet.
Whatever the reason—you didn’t choose this calling lightly.
But let me be honest: it’s not always easy walking in purpose.
The vision is big. The resources? Not always there. You’re juggling Outreach, budgets, RSVPs, emails, and tears—and all while trying to keep your home and spirit together.
That’s why Matthew 7:7 is my anchor scripture:
Ask — Don’t be afraid to take your needs to God daily.
Seek — Stay close to Him and let His Word guide your next move.
Knock — Keep going, even when the door hasn’t opened yet.
Sometimes people will ask, “How do you do all this?”
And truthfully, I don’t—not on my own. It’s prayer. It’s crying out to God when it feels like nobody’s coming to your events, when the money isn’t flowing, when the volunteers cancel last minute. It’s asking God for strength, seeking His peace, and knocking on the same door with faith that He will answer.
But here’s something I had to learn and want to share with you—God has an order for our day. When we live and lead in that order, He sustains us in ways we never imagined.
God’s Priorities for Your Day
1. Relationship with Jesus Christ
Start your morning with Him. Just 10-15 minutes can change your whole day.
Pray, read His Word, and reflect. Even a sticky note with a verse on your mirror can help.
Keep a little journal—even just a line or two—to track how He’s speaking to you.
2. Commitment to Home and Family
Your ministry starts at home.
Sit down for a meal with your spouse or family—no phones, just connection.
Pray over your loved ones. It builds a hedge of protection you can’t see but can feel.
3. Your Work and Tasks
Write down your top 3 priorities for the day. Don’t try to do it all.
Pray before you work. Ask God to multiply your time and guide your hands.
Block off focused time—your mission deserves your full presence, not just your leftover energy.
4. Service to God through Church and Community
Your nonprofit is one way you serve, but don’t forget to refill your spirit.
Stay connected to your church family. Attend something that feeds you, not just drains you.
Invite someone to serve with you—don’t carry the mission alone.
Friend, God didn’t give you this vision to abandon you in it. He is with you, step by step, and He is still opening doors.
So if today feels heavy, I want you to breathe deep and remember:
You’ve been called.
You’ve been chosen.
And even if it started in pain, God will use it for purpose.
Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking.
You’re not walking this path alone.
With love and purpose,
Latorra 💛
